Tumbling performance!

These are some scary pirates at the performance!
Can you trust a pirate with switch eyes??

Aubryn with teacher, Miss Annette

Here is Aubryn at her tumbling performance. Looks like she needs a bit more practice on this technique. She did really well!! Way to go, Aubryn!

It's Obvious, Mom

"Mom, did you know Micheal Jackson died today?" Brad asked me.

"Yeah." I said. "How did he die?"

"Heart attack. I think it's obvious, Mom."

"Why?" I asked.

"With all the stress he was under...looking like a girl and sounding like a girl."

Do Not Hesitate

Sunday morning in the hustle to get ready for church, I hurried into Rylan’s room to pick out his clothes. He was in my bedroom, crawling. About six feet from my bedroom door is a flight of 16 steps with hard wood at the bottom. I worry frequently about these stairs. So far, thank heavens, no one has gotten hurt on them.

As I picked out his clothes the thought came to my mind, “Did I close the door? Check on Rylan. Check on Rylan. Check on Rylan. CHECK ON RYLAN.”

“Oh, I’ll just hurry and grab his things then hurry back.” I thought.

Then I heard Brian shout and RUN. I screamed and ran too. I knew.

Brian caught him right near the edge of the top of the stairs. I was so grateful that he did! I was angry with myself for not heeding the prompting. (if you can call it that. It was shouting in my head) I find a little comfort in the fact that I heard the prompting, but am sorry I waited. Brian told me later that he was shaving and thought to check him, and (here is the important part) HE DID!

This got me thinking about Brian. He is in tune. He acts promptly. I thought back on our life together and the lives of our children. There are many times that he acted immediately. For example, a sporadic trip to Hawaii (I mean, we left the next day!) which turned out to be the last week and a half of our son’s life. Now today, there are still opportunities for listening and heeding. And he is. He knows things easily. He doesn’t waste time wondering or worrying. He feels good and follows. I am more at peace knowing that. I need to follow his example and quit wasting time with worry and what ifs. Brian is quick. Quick to obey. Quick to serve. Quick to love. Quick to DO.

He's crawling!

Officially. Rylan is now into everything and I am wishing I had gotten a lot more done last week.

He's back

Brad's good friend has been on vacation for over a week. We barely survived without him here everyday. But this morning the doorbell rang! Aubryn and Reagan answered the door. It was Chase! They let him in the door. Reagan yelled, "Braaad!! Chase is home!" Just as if he lived here.

Lunchtime!

"Come and eat!" I said. I dished up the mac and cheese. The kids began to dig in. Then I looked at the clock. 10:40. 10:40!! It is going to be a long day.
