I woke up, I think. If I hadn’t had that weird dream, I would have doubted I was ever totally asleep. But the sun was shining in my window, I could hear someone crying, Brian was rushing into the shower, Aubryn was wearing the same thing she wore yesterday with her day old pony tail and it was time to go!
Then I nursed the newborn while fending off the 2 and 4 year old.
Sometime this morning I got a call from Brian at work. He was asking me fertility questions and relaying the answers to a lady in Spanish. In his insurance office. He had a heck of a time. He didn’t know how to translate words like ovaries and progesterone.
My mom is here. After she told Reagan she was going to sit on him I heard Reagan threaten to punch her in the face as hard as he could. It didn’t phase her and she told him she was bigger than him. I called to him to come to me. I told him to go say he was sorry. He really didn’t want to. He wanted to watch T.V. I told him he couldn’t watch T.V., that he needed to tell Grandma sorry. He reluctanly apologized to Grandma. She told him to come to her and asked him why he was sorry. He told her that his mom told him he could watch T.V. if he said he was sorry.
Later today a neighbor and her pregnant daughter stopped by to talk baby stuff. We visited in the living room while all the kids played in the backyard. Another neighbor stopped by with a roast for dinner. [Can I just add here that the entire pregnancy and natural childbirth are almost worth it for the week’s worth of wonderful meals!! I really don’t like cooking.] That was about the time I discovered my kids. All of them. In the garden. With the hose. Covered in MUD. So, I locked the door. My sweet neighbor bathed Reagan for me. The others were locked out until Dad got home from work.
I kept a secret all day too. My brother from Chicago came into town and really surprised my mom in her p.j.’s! It is so good to see him. It could only be better if his wife and kids could have come with him.
