Elder Richard G Scott

Yesterday Richard G. Scott of the quorum of the 12 apostles died.  Tonight we were sitting around reflecting on him.  We thought about how much joy he must be having to be with his wife again.  He always spoke about her with such respect and tenderness.  We talked also about when he gave Brian a blessing right after his devastating diagnosis.  We looked up the notes that Gina (Brian's sister)wrote.   Pretty amazing to read through and see how each thing he said had come about.  I will copy and paste an email I sent to my family with the notes in it from the blessing.

Hey, I wanted to share something with you.  Brian went to see his brother, Chad, be put in the stake presidency today.  Elder Richard G. Scott was there.  Long story short, he gave Brian a blessing.  I was home with sick kids and missed it.  Brian said he asked where I was to give me a blessing too.  Sad.  But Brian said it was pretty neat.  Here are highlights they wrote down afterwards.  Also, Brian told me he took his name and this Thursday they will pray for him in the temple.  That is what the first 2 lines are about

10:30 Thursday, March 19th
One of the 1st presidency will be acting as voice at the alter.  First Presidency and quorum of the twelve apostles only present.

Blessing by Elder Richard G Scott, March 15, 2009 (what is remembered)

I command that the full power of the priesthood would be active throughout every part of his body that has been affected.

The fullness of his life would not be restricted.

He will be guided on what treatments to accept or not to accept.

Blessed with the gift of discernment

Bless all of those in any fashion that would participate

Command his body to accept the power of the priesthood.

Your body will not be limited in its functions.

Blessed through him all of us would receive the Lord’s peace and healing.

Every cell and part of him will reject the intrusion.

As he left he said to Brian, “You will be blessed.”

Love, Anj
