Aubryn

I started taking some pictures of Aubryn yesterday. I had to take about 10 for every decent picture. I kept saying, "one more..." Then I had this thought, "REAGAN!" I found him in my project room. He had dumped a lot of paint out. It was on his nice shirt. I pulled the shirt up and off and it painted his face in this nice fashion. Aubryn said to me, "Mom, I told you Reagan knows how to open doors."

Another Day in Paradise

Rylan hanging out on a Sunday afternoon

Reagan loves candy. A lot. This morning when we went down to eat breakfast he was crying for chocolate. So, I gave him a big bowl of Hershey kisses for breakfast. KIDDING! He kept insisting that he had some in his pocket. His jammies had no pockets, but that didn't matter. Whenever he wants something lately he says its in his pocket, or mine, or Brian's. No matter what it is he wants. Most of the time it makes no sense. Like in nursery today. He insisted that the bubbles where in his pockets. Anyway, I finally got him to eat a bowl of cereal. Brian said, "Man! He's addicted!" Reagan shouted, "I AM NOT ADDICTED, OTAY?" Then in a much softer, hurt feeling voice, "I am not addicted, otay?"
Here is a picture of Reagan at dinner a few nights ago with a little ranch.

At a fireside tonight Aubryn hit her head on a piano. She grabbed her head with her hands but didn't cry. Brian said, "Oh no! Are you okay?" She said, "NO! I'm not okay! It hurts!" Then she started to cry.

Here is a picture of Rylan eating a cracker for the first time today:

Craft it Forward

The first three people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year.
4- You have no clue what it's going to be.
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
The catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 3 people who do the same on your blog. The first 3 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!

Today's Highlights

Uneventful trip to the grocery store

Reagan laughing and saying, “That’s so funny!”

Rylan not fighting his naps, as bad.

All the kids liked dinner (first time ever when it wasn’t mac and cheese)

Visiting Teachers came for some much needed adult conversation

Cleaned up crunchy oriental noodles off the floor before all of them were smashed

Only picked up the basement twice

Played Barbies and Polly Pockets with Aubryn

Nobody spilled a drink, but someone spilled bubbles in the carpet

I took a shower, I think.

6 Months Already?

Aubryn was holding Rylan this afternoon and I heard her say in a high pitch, sing song voice, "You're my big baby. You're my GIANT baby!"

He is big, around 22 pounds. And he quit sucking his thumb! Ahh! No more self soothing and happy sleeping! He is a good boy, though! Smiles easily and loves to laugh.

Valentine's Dinner

I remember back when I was single that I always got a little nervous on Valentines Day. I wondered if anyone would remember me. Would someone give me flowers or balloons? I remember once (Yes, just once) someone did, and then I was nervous because I didn’t know what to do about it. I was so surprised!

Flash forward to Valentines Day 2009. Dinner sounded like this,

“Eat your food.”

“Sit down.”

“Oh no, you spilled?”

“Don’t waste that.”

“Waaah.”

It was so romantic.

We had some friends over for dinner, the Craguns. It was really fun to visit and laugh together. But we know we are getting old. We could barely stay awake after 9:00.

Any Requests?

I asked Aubryn when I was fixing her hair for church last Sunday. I expected an answer like, "Curls" or "Piggies." What I got was, "Make me prettier than Audrey (a girl in her primary class).

As I fixed her hair she made many different smiles in the mirror. "Is this a pretty smile, Mom?"

She is four. I can't imagine fourteen!

Reagan said...

"Mom, hold this for me."

"What is it?" I asked.

"Boogies."

On another note, Reagan likes to say amen. But for some reason he thinks he should be the only one. "No A-MEN! Aubby!"

And since I'm talking about him, he has the weirdest comforter for falling asleep. Not a blanket or sippy cup. He cries for plastic-tac. (you know that gooey stuff you hang papers on the wall with?) He calls it "stick". "Want stick! Dat one" He points. It took me forever to figure out what he wanted. But now I keep a wad by his crib.

FHE

Brad planned a nice Family Home Evening lesson last night on Joseph Smith. Wow! He really did a nice job!

Aubryn wore her baby slip and denim skirt for the night.
This is the only time reagan sat still.

Concert

Brian and I drove down to Provo Monday for a benefit concert for Stephanie and Christian Nielson. We enjoyed it very much. Mindy Gledhill sang. So did Ryan Shupe and David Osmond. Some others performed improv. I want to share one of my favorite songs of the evening. It totally reminds me of Brian. He loves to travel and see new places. Before we got married I had been to Yellowstone a lot and to California a couple times. Since we married, he has taken me to many places. I love it. The best part of traveling with him, is being with him. No work, no meetings. It is kind of hard right now with all the kids. It's a job just to take a trip to the grocery store. Our most recent trips have been to Idaho to see family, and they wore us out! We have big plans to see the world one day. When kids are old enough to carry their own bag!

Here is the song. Click on the ipod on the right of her blog. The song is "California". It will only be on for a few days. Enjoy!

Dumb Question

I was in Tai Pan this afternoon. (that is a home décor store.) An old man walked up to me. He looked like he had been transplanted out of the pharmacy line at Walgreen’s. He was wearing a blue zip up hoodie and his hair was a mess. Not the typical person to run into there. He said, "Can I ask you a dumb question?"

I said, "I’ll give you a dumb answer."

"Why are men’s brains worth more than women’s brains?" He asked.

I replied, "Because they’ve never been used."

"NO!" he said. Then he mumbled the real answer, or his answer.

I turned to walk away, a little weirded out by him. He grabbed my sleeve and mumbled another one that involved a swear word. I didn’t catch what he said.

I just went, "he he." Then I hurried off to get away before he grabbed my sleeve again.

No Big Deal

Today I got pulled over by a cop. Apparently I ran a red light. (I only saw yellow) My insurance card was expired. Luckily my insurance agent was in the passenger seat, so it was all good. Except that I still got the ticket. Normally I would care. Brian too. We just sat there like we were at the drive through waiting for food. Not good food. He brought me my ticket. I signed it and was told to “Drive safe!” Then we were on our way. No big deal.

Yesterday, Brian spilled water all over the laptop. What a bad thing to have happen. But we acted more like someone pushed the wrong channel on the remote. I just quickly flipped it over, Brian slowly got a napkin, and we soaked up most of the water in between the keys. It was no big deal.
